Each year Mississippi College School of Nursing sends a small team of students, Registered Nurses and Nursing Practitioners to Letecia, Columbia to begin their medical relief efforts with Medical Ministries International. For two weeks this team lives on a boat traveling down the Amazon River providing medical care to an estimated 2250 patients in six villages. The students test their medical knowledge to the limit. For the first time in their lives, they are the sole primary caregiver for many patients, treating patients on their own knowledge and recommendations. Each year these teams grow and continue to enhance the healthcare of these communities.
For the past two years, we have proudly sponsored MCSON with a donation of medical diagnostic equipment that assists with there efforts along the Amazon river. The team donates this equipment to the Medical Ministries International home base in Leticia, Columbia for other medical missionaries to use when going out into villages.
