Power of a Nickel is non-profit organization that travels to underserved communities in Nicaragua, Mexico, Guatemala, Uganda and Vietnam to provide free healthcare for all. They travel to Chacraseca, Nicaragua to focus on meeting the needs of the 9200 community members who are almost exclusively subsistence farmers, and average less than $2 per day per family in income.
The healthcare clinic in Chacraseca is one of the many communal projects the Power of the Nickel concentrates on when on location. Teams consist of volunteer physicians, medical students and other healthcare providers and helpers. General patient evaluation and treatment is offered and the team will make referrals for patients that need to be sent to local health facilities. PON focuses on educating volunteer medical students and local volunteers in general health screenings, general assessment and treatment.
It is our honor to assist Power of Nickel’s Chacraseca team with a donation of medical diagnostic equipment annually. This equipment is used in clinic screenings and in volunteer medical student and local health provider trainings. Stethoscopes, blood pressure monitors and other donated equipment are used to outfit the Chacraseca clinic and gifted to local volunteer healthcare practitioners.
