General Safety: MDF® sphygmomanometers are designed exclusively as a non-invasive method of measuring blood pressure on healthy skin of the upper arm or thigh regions only.

General Usage: Prior to each use, make sure all parts are securely fastened and properly connected. Always use with a stethoscope for accurate and complete blood pressure measurement (stethoscope is included with MDF® 808 only ).

Cuff Placement: Place cuff midway between shoulder and elbow with a gap of 2 to 3 cm above the elbow. Locate the brachial artery pulse with first two fingers and place cuff so the arrow of the arterial indicator is directly over the brachial artery. The cuff should be at the same height as the heart.

Cuff Inflation: Screw valve clockwise to shut air release valve. lnflate cuff to 20-30 mm above expected systolic pressure.

Stethoscope Placement: Place the eartips of stethoscope into ears. The headset should be worn with the eartips pointed away from you if it is held in front of you. Place the chestpiece of the stethoscope firmly and directly over brachial artery underneath the cuff. If the pulse is heard prior to releasing the valve, inflate the cuff another 20 mmHg or until no pulse is heard.

Measurement: Screw valve counter-clockwise to release valve at a rate of 2-3 mmHg per second. The systolic pressure is the gauge reading at the first audible pulse. Continue with air release. The diastolic pressure is the gauge reading at the last audible pulse.

General Cleaning & Care: Clean soiled parts of sphygmomanometer thoroughly before each use. All parts of the sphygmomanometer and stethoscope can be cleaned with a clean cotton cloth and isopropyl alcohol solution or water with mild detergent. Do not let any liquid enter the inside of sphygmomanometer. Cuff cover can be hand washed with warm water and mild detergent. Air dry; do not machine dry.

Never inflate past 300 mmHg

Keep sharp objects away from cuff

Never disassemble the sphygmomanometer

Avoid impact or shock to the sphygmomanometer

Always deflate cuff completely after measurement and prior to storage

Avoid prolong exposure to excessive heat, cold, solvents, moisture, and oils

The pointer of a calibrated gauge will rest on the zero at no pressure

Frequently check for and remove dust from screen filter of intake valve at end of inflation bulb

The sphygmomanometer should be stored between -20 °C and 70 °C -20℃ humidity of 85%

The sphygmomanometer should be used at temperatures between 10 °C and 40 °C at a relative humidity of 85%

Maintenance and Calibration Specifications:

The sphygmomanometer should be calibrated at temperature range of 15 °C to 25 °C and a relative humidity range of 20% to 85%.

The sphygmomanometer should not leak air in excess of 4 mmHg/min (0.5kPa/min) when the valve is closed.

The maximum error of the measurement of the cuff pressure at any point of the scale range should be within ±3 mmHg (±0.4 kPa).
